Peace

Since President Nelson’s talk “Peacemakers Needed” in April Conference, I’ve been watching myself pretty closely for conflict and contention, and I’m disappointed to find how often I think negative or judgmental thoughts about others.

It’s particularly bad when I read the news, but also crops up while driving and, sadly, even in family conversations. I wish I was always kind and benevolent as I interact with others of Heavenly Father’s children….but I get a bit annoyed and a bit judgmental too often.

A scripture that was an answer to prayer many years ago has been an answer again as I ponder this tendancy:

D&C 82: 23-24  “Leave judgment alone with me, for it is mine, and I will repay. Peace be with you; my blessings continue with you. For even yet the kingdom is yours, and shall be forever, if you fall not from your steadfastness. Even so. Amen.”

I love the reminder that I don’t have to evaluate anyone’s actions or motivations but my own. I can just be steadfast in my own path, and look forward with a peaceful heart to a less contentious world.
